GALWAY BASED Swedish artist Cecilia Danell is among those exhibiting at Creative Wave, a show of work by GMIT students and graduates, running in the Galway City Museum.
The exhibition features work by emerging and established artists, designers, craftspeople and film–makers, including Gabriel Heilscher, Paul Geraghty, and Michael Harris, as well as Danell, who are or were students at the GMIT’s Letterfrack based Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design and Technology and its Centre for the Creative Arts and Media in Wellpark. It reflects how international connections and adventures have influenced the development of Galway’s creative culture.
Dermot O’Donovan, head of GMIT Letterfrack, called Creative Wave a "quality exhibition" which "highlights the excellent and innovative student work produced in GMIT"; while Paddy Tobin, head of the Centre for Creative Arts & Media, said "the range and depth of creative talent on display bodes very well for the future."
The exhibition is part of the Galway International Arts Festival and runs until August 27. Admission is free.
