Italian organist to play Galway cathedral

New work by Italian composer Claudio Perugini to receive world premiere at Galway Cathedral

A NEW work by the Italian composer Claudio Perugini, will be performed by the Italian organist Antonio Caporaso at the next Galway Cathedral Recitals concert, this evening at 8pm.

Caporaso, from Benevento, near Naples, in southern Italy, will perform a programme of 19th-century music, along with the world premiere of the new work by Perugini.

He is artistic director of the International Organ Festival of Benevento, director of Concentus Sacræ Harmoniae, a vocal and instrumental group specialising in sacred repertoire. He has performed concerts across Europe, including at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and St Paul’s Cathedral in London. He is president of the Aulos cultural association and director of the Aulos Vocale Ensemble, a choir which performs arrangements of popular soundtracks.

Admission is €15/10 at the door. Next week's concert will be by the Galway-based Audivi Chamber Choir, directed by Darina McCarthy. See www.galwaycathedral.ie
