The Lucia Comnes Band to play Monroe’s

THE LUCIA Comnes Band, a four-piece folk powerhouse fusing rock, blues, Irish trad, and bluegrass, led by a singer with a "singular voice", according to the San Francisco Chronicle, are coming to Galway.

San Francisco singer-songwriter-fiddler, Lucia Comnes, and her band, plays a free show at Monroe’s Tavern's The Side Bar on Sunday August 7 at 8.30pm.

Lucia's song, 'No Hiding Place', a swampy blues that marries Appalachian ballad forms to a Bo Diddley beat, was recognised by the Dallas Texas Songwriters Association as Best Song of the Year in 2014 which led to her recent recording project in Nashville, Tennessee. She has played and toured with Joan Baez, Paul Brady, Liam Ó Maonlaí, and Seamus Begley.

Her most recent album is Love, Hope & Tyranny, which Folk Radio UK called "a wonderful record that balances a real sophistication, with an authentic rootsy vibe".
