A COMPULSIVE liar asks his eejit of a friend to pose as his psychiatrist for a couple's counselling session, because what could go wrong if you were to try that, right?
This is Couples Counselling, an original farce for stage, written by Athenry native Giles Brody, and starring Republic Of Telly's Edwin Sammon, along with Diet Of Worms' Philippa Dunne, Stephen Colfer of the online comedy group Dreamgun, and Connemara comedian Hannah Mamalis. The play is part of the Galway Fringe Festival.
Brody and Sammon previously collaborated on Brody's online show Student Teacher. Since then he has written for a number of television programmes including Irish Pictorial Weekly. Sammon has emerged as an accomplished stand-up and actor. His latest role was as Fr Gabriel on the popular RTÉ sitcom Bridget & Eamon.
Couples Counselling runs at the Nuns Island Theatre tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday at 8.30pm. Tickets are €10 from the Galway Fringe box office, Galway City Gallery, Victoria Place, Eyre Square or through www.galwayfringe.ie
