Pleasure Beach to play Róisín Dubh

Acclaimed Belfast indie band to play Galway International Arts Festival

PLEASURE BEACH'S music has been described as "melding indie-pop hooks, alternative-folk tinged vocal harmonies and post-rock inflected grandeur", by The Last Mixed Tape, while Pure M said the band were "years ahead in their knowledge of music".

The Choice Prize nominated Belfast band, who have also been compared to Arcade Fire and Bruce Springsteen, plays Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Thursday July 14 at 8pm as part of the Galway International Arts Festival

Pleasure Beach met while working in and frequenting coffee shops in Belfast, before moving to rural County Down to explore a shared interest in lush and slightly psychedelic aesthetics. The band's debut single 'Go' mixed elements of Americana, Krautrock, and Scandinavian pop, while their debut EP, Dreamer To A Dawn, was released in May.

The Last Mixed Tape said is "sizzles with self-confidence...Dreamer To A Dawn hits you in an emotive way. There’s hope, there’s wonder, there’s want, there’s regret. All of which is communication in the best possible way, pop music."

Support is from Orchid Collective, who have earned comparison to Villagers and Bon Iver. Ticket are available through www.roisindubh.net and www.giaf.ie
