THE WONDERFUL ConTempo Quartet will give a lunchtime concert today from 1.10pm to 1.50pm - aimed at children as much as adults - in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church.
The Galway based Romanian quartet will perform much loved and well-known pieces from the classical repertoire, including Mozart’s 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' and Strauss’ 'Neue Pizzicato Polka'. There will also be performances of Haydn’s 'The Bird', the traditional Romanian piece, 'The Men’s Dance', and Irish composer David Flynn’s piece 'The Cranning'.
The concert is supported by The Arts Council, NUI Galway, and the Galway city and county councils. Admission is free and early arrival is recommended. The next lunchtime family concert will be on August 2 with the WhistleBlast Quartet. For more information see www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie
