Supermac's is probably not the first place that springs to mind when you think about popping out to pick up a salad, but that is just about to change. As part of the popular SuperSubs brand, three new signature salads have been launched, including a vegetarian option, just in time for the summer season. This is in addition to the excellent existing SuperSubs menu that includes wraps, subs and soups, found at selected Supermac’s restaurants around the country.
Managing director of Supermac’s, Pat McDonagh says: “We are very excited to launch a new menu which provides such a variety of fresh and healthy options. At Supermac’s we strive to offer our customers a variety of options and we’re very excited to bring them a menu which is not only healthy, but also substantial and reasonably priced. All of our salads are prepared daily using fresh and nutritious ingredients ensuring we deliver only the best of food to our customers.”
These salads are now available at selected Supermac’s family restaurants in Ireland including the newest outlet in the Galway Plaza at Junction 16 on the M6; the Barack Obama Plaza; Tipperary Town Plaza; Eyre Square, Galway; Tuam Road, Galway; Headford Road, Galway; Newcastle Road, Galway; O’Connell St, Dublin; Portlaoise; Kilkenny; Clonmel; Mullingar; Drogheda and Mallow.
If you wish to ingest green, these healthy salads make sure you’ll find leafy goodness at an affordable price in every one of the salads on offer. Anyone who would gleefully dive into a big bowl of leaves and veg and a garnish of protein will like these and at only €5.95 per bowl they are priced way lower than most. You order from the menu at the SuperSubs counter and the salad is assembled before your eyes. The whole concept at the moment in Supermac's is to redefine how people see fast food. These are an alternative to burger and chips; you get locally sourced, high quality food and people are willing to pay for that. Apart from the usual lunchtime crush, the front of house is welcoming and service-oriented.
The Italian chicken pesto salad is certainly a filler-upper. It has robust batavia lettuce, olives, really nice sun dried tomatoes, red onion and parmesan and a fragrant green pesto dressing. The other salads on the menu are the ever popular Chicken Caesar and a Greek salad with feta cheese, my personal favourite. The ingredients are sourced carefully and it shows in the quality of the product, the vine tomatoes in the Greek salad are as sweet as jelly babies. If you want to plough on to something for afters, I’d recommend a scoop of ice-cream. You have earned it after all.
SuperSubs signature salads are available at selected Supermac’s restaurants in Galway, notably The Galway Plaza; Eyre Square; Tuam Road; Headford Road; and Newcastle.
