Megacone to headline FEAST

Instrumental metal act plays Róisín Dubh next week

THEY HAVE been called "jewels of the Emerald Isle prog scene" by Prog magazine, and as "willing to challenge the boundaries of instrumental music and bring their own fresh feel to it," by Goldenplec. They are Megacone.

Dublin iband Megacone headline the next 'FEAST presents...' at the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday July 6. The quintet formed in 2013 and have played Vantastival, Electric Picnic, and Knockanstockan. Having earned comparisons to Dream Theatre and Enemies, they signed to Dimestore Records, and their latest EP, Absolute Magnitude, was released this month.

Support is from Galway's Onwards Upwards, also an instrumental band. They have self released and self produced two EPs - A New Beginning, described as "driving hard rock rhythm furies" by forksterrocks.net - and Kore Kosmou, a more technical sounding work, intertwined with ambient layering and atmospherics.

Opening the night are The Dyatonics, described as "like a bunch of wild ferrets on stage, with a sound similar to Barney the Dinosaur on speed".

Doors at 9pm. Admission is €5.
