Omid Djalili - Schmuck For A Night in Galway

Comedian to bring new show to Galway in 2017

"Never use schmuck lightly, or in the presence of women and children," wrote Leo Rosten in his book, The Joys of Yiddish. Why, because it is a very naughty word for the naughty bits of a man.

It is different though, when applying the word to oneself. Self-deprecation is a major part of humour, and the ability to laugh at yourself, and not just at others, is seen as a quality, not a defect.

With this in mind, the brilliant British-Iranian comedian Omad Djalili returns to stand-up comedy with his new show, Schmuck For A Night, which he will perform in the Black Box Theatre on Thursday March 30, 2017. The Sunday Times has described his comedy as "belly laughs with a subtle blend of mainstream gags and subversive twinkle," and we can expect plenty of this at the new show.

Omid's credits range from Hollywood to television and the West End stage. He has appeared in Dickensian (BBC1 ), Lucky Man (Sky1 ), Going Forward with Jo Brand (BBC4 ), and the David Baddiel scripted film The Infidel. As The Telegraph said, "one of the most joyfully smart, stimulating and entertaining comedians this country has."

The show is a 'Róisín Dubh presents...' event. Tickets are on sale from the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie ); OMG Shop Street; Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; and ticketmaster outlets nationwide. The show is suitable for those aged 16 and over.
