Killeeneen National School will hold its third 5km Road Race on Thursday, June 16 . The 5km Race which is chip timed, will kick start at 7pm from the historical Liam Mellows 1916 Commemorative monument located in the heart of Killeeneen.
The race launch took place at the Liam Mellows monument in Killeeneen and was attended by All Ireland County hurling and camogie winners (and also past pupils of Killeeneen National School ), Ian O’Brien, Carrie Dolan and Evan Niland.
To register for the main 5km race, visit www.runireland.com by Wednesday, June 15 . Registration will also take place at Killeeneen National School on the evening of the event from 5.30pm-6.30pm. €15 registration fee.
The annual event will also feature a 1km Primary School Run (6.15pm ) and a 2.5km walk (6.30pm ) so there is something for everyone and it promises to be a great event with refreshments and prize giving afterwards.
Speaking at the launch, Éadaoin O’Callaghan from Killeeneen National School stated that ‘’she is delighted the race has become an annual event and while it is very popular amongst race enthusiasts, it’s also a great event for the community in general.’
Funds raised from the event go towards the Killeeneen National School Building Fund.
