THEY MAY hail from Dublin but Stomptown Brass's musical roots are firmly in the New Orleans tradition of street-stomping horn players, as can be seen when they play the Galway International Arts Festival next month.
The nine-piece brass outfit feature trombone, saxophone, drums, and tuba, performing original material composed by trombonist James O’Leary, along with imaginative takes on music by Outkast and Brendan Behan. They have played Indiependece, Longitude, Groove, and Electric Picnic, and released their first EP, Locomotive.
Stomptown Brass play Monroe’s Live on Friday July 15 at 9pm. Tickets are €12/10 via www.giaf.ie
