WOMEN'S STORIES from 1916 to 2016, and their dedication to freedom, equality, and fairness, will be told in a new exhibition opening at 5.30pm, Friday May 27, in the Galway City Museum.
Mná 2016 - Women’s Stories and Emblems 1916 – 2016, part of the official City of Galway Centenary Programme, tells the story of eight women, with west of Ireland connections - Peg Broderick, Brigid O’Mullane, Eileen Costelloe, Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington, and Lily and Lolly Yeats - told in panels and a timeline of Irishwomen’s activities.
The exhibition also features decorative, vocational, and political emblems and stories, and a small display of responses by modern designers for a contemporary emblem or badge.
Mná 2016 is a year long initiative by a group of Galway women, and seeks to honour the voices of women in 1916 and to create interest and engagement with their vision by women in Ireland today. The exhibition runs throughout the summer.
