Three wildlife charities have joined forces to bring awareness of wildlife to the citizens of Galway on Saturday May 21 in a free event to mark Biodiversity Week 2016.
The Vincent Wildlife Trust, the Irish Wildlife Trust, and Birdwatch Ireland have organised the event at The Granary Learning Centre, on Dominick Street Lower, which will commence at 12.00 noon and finish at 6.30pm. There will also be a bat walk at 9.15pm.
A team of wildlife experts from each of the wildlife charities will be on hand to pass on knowledge about the captivating wildlife of the city that often goes unnoticed.
"We are all excited about this event," said organiser Ruth Hanniffy of The Vincent Wildlife Trust. "Thanks to the Irish Environmental Network we have the funds to make this day possible. We will have a series of short talks during the day, three afternoon fieldtrips, and a dusk bat walk with the Galway Bat Group. In addition, we will have an exclusive screening of previously unseen footage from ‘Wild Cities – Galway’, the Crossing The Line wildlife documentary recently screened on RTE television and presented by John Lusby."
