Did you know that by analysts predict that by 2020 billions of things will be connected to the internet enabling a wealth of innovation. For those who may not know the IoT refers to the development of internet connectivity for everyday objects allowing them to send and receive data.
Dave’s talk will focus on the Internet of Things (IoT ) and will show how existing buildings can be turned into smart buildings. Take for example, turning an 18th Century listed building into a smart building while adhering to listed building regulations and maintaining ambience and character. Now there’s a challenge!
Dave has been involved in the IoT for many years, even before it became known as the IoT and was simply connecting things together. From connecting up pipelines in desserts, the first pay as you drive insurance scheme and an early pay per mile city car project, making links and connecting up “things” has played a vital role in Dave’s work. He is an evangelist for IoT and its capabilities in business, helping to build the IoT ecosystem in IBM while leveraging lessons learned over the last 20 years. In a previous life Dave worked on mainframe, mid-range and pc based computer platforms, including transaction processing and messaging systems that drive many of today’s financial systems. Data is definitely King in the IoT.
