Galway Community College to hold further education open evening

The PLC Further Education College in Galway Community College, Móinín na gCiseach, will hold an information and registration evening on Thursday May 19 from 6pm to 8pm.

If you are interested in doing a full time QQI Level 5 or 6 course, commencing in September 2016, call into the college on May 19 and avail of an opportunity to see all the facilities available and gather information from the course tutors for your preferred area of study.

In GCC, there is a broad range of level 5 and 6 courses on offer with tutors developing new courses and new modules in line with industry trends in employment with links to higher education. GCC has developed strong links to local businesses with work experience offered in six specialist departments: social care; business and media; design and technology; music, theatre and film; sports; and horticulture.

New courses for September 2016 include customer service/call centre operations; boat building, design, and maintenance; equine studies; and biomedical science/laboratory studies.

On completion of a PLC course a maximum of 400 points can be achieved for progression to third level education. Successful completion and certification of a QQI/FETAC Level 5 course allows you to apply through the CAO system for any course up to 400 points. Close ties with industry in Galway city and county and a focus on third level education are key factors in what has made the PLC College at GCC a centre of excellence.
