PMS to hold cheese and wine night as work begins on its next musical comedy

The Patrician Musical Society is back on song and the group will present the hilarious musical comedy How the West Wasn’t Won in the Town Hall Theatre for four nights at 8pm from October 5 to 8.

Written by Peter Kennedy, this show takes a different look at the classical musicals Calamity Jane, Annie Get your Gun, and Oklahoma with such characters as the Loan Ranger, Butch Chastity, and Annie Oakleaf. Peter Kennedy will also direct and choreograph; musical director is John Roe and Martha O’Toole is chorus mistress. This promises to be a night of great comedy and music.

Unfortunately, the PMS had to cancel its presentation of Pirates of Penzance in March due to financial and casting issues, and it apologised to all patrons and supporters for the inconvenience caused by the society’s silence as they endeavoured to get back on track. The PMS has said it is confident that it has turned a corner and can go forward in a positive manner as befitting a society that has been entertaining Galway audiences and developing young and talented performers for the past 64 years.

With this in mind the group is planning a cheese and wine night in the Salthill Hotel on Saturday May 21 at 8pm. Entrance is €15 per person and all patrons, supporters, and past and present performers are invited to attend for a night of fun and song, and where the society will outline its future plans.
