Kyne welcomes further investment in broadband in Galway

Fine Gael TD for Galway West and Mayo South, Seán Kyne TD has welcomed the roll out of new broadband services in Galway which will see tens of thousands of homes receive broadband of blistering speed over the next year.

In the coming weeks Irish-owned telecom company, Imagine, is introducing fibre-powered broadband for households and businesses in Galway. and Deputy Kyne recently met with the commercial director of Imagine to learn of the company’s plans for next generation broadband in Galway.

“The company brings fibre broadband to mast which then serves households and businesses up to 13 km away via an external box installed at the premises.

“The new service will be imminently available from Tonabrucky which has been selected as one of a number of sites in Galway for the service.” he said, adding that Eir will be holding a briefing in Athenry next month on its €30 million plan for bringing high-speed broadband to 100,000 Galway homes and businesses.
