Clarenbridge Nursing Home won Nursing Home of the Year at the Irish Healthcare Awards in Dublin recently.
The prestigious awards are held annually to recognise excellence within the clinical care sector.
Clarenbridge Nursing Home, which is located in Ballygarriff close to the villages of Clarenbridge and Craughwell, is one of five nursing homes in the Windmill Group owned by Pat Kennedy and Dennis Mc Gilliggott. The facility is managed by Frances Neilan and is HIQA registered for residential care for the over 65 age group, in addition to having a wing contracted by the HSE Disability West to provide rehabilitative care for young adults with acquired brain and spinal injury. The biopsychological model of care delivered in the nursing home is designed to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for the residents. The nursing home also provides rehabilitation, respite and convalescence care for post-surgery or hospital stay patients and has a full time physiotherapist and occupational therapist.
The award recognised excellence in management and operation of the services provided in the nursing home. The nursing home was also shortlisted in two other categories; Falls Prevention, and the Social and Recreational category. The panel of judges included Dr. Jim Browne, president of NUIG, and Dr Sean Higgins GP of the Irish Primary Care Research Network, and other esteemed members from Irish Healthcare sector.
