Ireland’s bella voce, Amanda Neri performs at a special benefit gig in the Side Bar at Monroe’s Tavern on Sunday, April 3.
The performance is in aid of two worthy causes, COPE Galway, and Icefight Brisbane, and it represents the first ever joint benefit gig between Irish and Australian charities. COPE Galway provides services for homelessness and domestic violence and senior support in Galway. Icefight Brisbane is an initiative in response to the widespread use of the deadly drug crystal meth in Australia. It is estimated in Australia approximately 150,000 to 250,000 people (mainly under 40 years old ) are hooked on this destructive substance.
A classically trained opera singer, Amanda Neri has shared the stage with many leading soloists including Colm Wilkinson (the Irish tenor best known for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables ) and Liam O’Connor, accordion world record holder. Amanda has performed for presidents, aristocracy, and corporate leaders and holds the record for performing before more world ambassadors than any other Irish classical artist.
Ms Neri will also be joined by other artists on the night including Bernard Mac, David Lydon, Pete and Trisha Duffy, and Louise O’Sullivan. There will be raffles and giveaways at the event. For more information, check out the Cope Galway and Icefight Brisbane Benefit Gig page on Facebook.
