The annual social gathering of the friends of the Pernet Group will take place on Saturday evening at 7.30pm at the Galway Rowing Club.
Pernet is an association of voluntary groups, set up by Sr Imelda O’Sullivan to further the mission of the Little Sisters of the Assumption to empower and support people in the community.
"We are organising a fun night with a singalong, dancing and finger food as well as a bumper raffle which is included on the admission ticket which costs €5," says Sr Imelda.
"This year we will be joined by a group from Wales who have been associated with the mission of the Little Sisters of the Assumption in Blackwood Gwent. They will be in Galway from April 1 to 6."
Meanwhile Pernet is organising two workshops in April at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Newtownsmith. A music therapy workshop by Ronan de Burca aims to help people see their child, teenager, or themselves in a new light, especially if they have difficulties putting words on their feelings. It takes place on Saturday April 23 from 10am to 12.30 and costs €45. A dream workshop will take place on Saturday April 9 from 10am to 12.30 and will give people the tools to understand their dreams. It costs €25.
The workshops are designed to enhance people's communication skills as well as helping them handle difficult situations.
