Karl Spain wants an audience

Limerick comic to headline next Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh

YOU READ the headline, now don't disappoint the Limerick comedian, do turn up to his show at the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh tomorrow at 8.30pm.

Father to both Rubberbandits, Karl began his onstage life as part of a breakdance roller skate troupe and then followed the natural progression to stand-up. On account of his rather feminine legs, he was also a top model for Pretty Polly.

He rose to wider prominence through his 2005 RTE TV series, Karl Spain Wants A Woman. It was a huge success, he found himself a woman and he’s still with her 11 years later but that’s more hostage situation than a success story.

Karl recently celebrated 15 years as a professional funnyman and hosts about 500 comedy shows a year - nobody does it better. He spends the money he makes on Subbuteo and comics and will be delighted to see you in his audience as “you are his favourite”. The Sunday Times called him "achingly funny".

Support is from Ger Staunton. His material is meticulously crafted and delivered in a playful, tongue-in-cheek, style. The MC is Steve Bennett. Admission is €8 in advance/€10 on door. Tickets are from the Róisín Dubh, OMG Shop Street, and roisindubh.net
