Classical lunchtime with ConTempo

CLAUDE DEBUSSY'S String Quartet in G minor, Op 10, a watershed in the history of chamber music, will be performed in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Tuesday April 5 at 1.10pm.

The ConTempo Quartet will perform this work, the Frenchman's only string quartet, in this, the latest in the group's lunchtime concert series.

First performed on December 29 1893, by the Ysaÿe Quartet at the Société Nationale, Paris, the work contained exotic scales, unconventional chords, progressions and key changes, and melodies and harmonies unique for their time.

Admission is free, all are welcome, and early arrival is recommended.
