Step it out for multiple sclerosis

Walkers and joggers/runners of all ages and abilities are being urged to step it out for multiple sclerosis on Easter Monday at Salthill Promenade.

Hundreds of people are set to walk, jog or run the 6.5 kilometre route on Monday 28 March from noon to raise vital funds for those suffering with the condition.

The event has been organised by sisters Mary and Teresa Flanagan for the second year after the success of last year’s event. It saw participants take in the sunny views of Salthill before relaxing with music and dancing on Claddagh Quay.

“Last year’s event was a great success which was helped by the great weather,” said Teresa Flanagan. “It is suited to all ages and abilities so whether you want to take a slow pace and have a chat while strolling or try and beat your personal best with a run, the more the merrier.”

The walk/run begins at the Claddagh Hall at noon on Easter Monday and continues to Blackrock before looping back to the Claddagh Hall where there will be live music and refreshments. Entry to the event costs €10 and will be taken up at the Claddagh Hall. The money raised will help people with MS to access information, services and support on a local, regional and national level. This network of support is crucial to the lives of the more than 6,000 people with MS in Ireland.
