OLIVIA TRUMMER, the acclaimed German jazz musician, will be in concert this Sunday from 7pm in An Taibhdhearc, Middle Street, accompanied by Swiss vibraphonist Jean-Lou Treboux.
The duo are currently touring Ireland to promote their new album C2J – Classical to Jazz, where Trummer took music by Bach, Mozart, and Scarlatti and created jazz inspired arrangements of the selected pieces. As thejazzbreakfast.com said: "the blending of jazz and classical sensibilities are subtle and fully integrated. The wordless vocals Trummer adds here and there increase the variety and lift the mood in all the right places. It’s a sonic treat, too.”
Trummer is an internationally successful jazz pianist, but she has also been a classical piano soloist, and this album and tour allows her to combine both sides of her musical personality. The German's music influences are diverse, ranging from Mozart to Stevie Wonder, Debussy to Bill Evans, and Bach to The Beatles.
Tickets are €15/12. For more information contact 091 - 562024 or [email protected]. See also www.oliviatrummer.de and www.jltvibes.com
