Ireland’s biggest ever white collar boxing event is set to take place on March 11 at the Black Box Theatre in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. Thirty male and female boxers are currently coming to the end of a tough nine-week programme with Black Dragon Gym, which is preparing them for the big night.
“The Irish Heart Foundation is working to reduce the biggest causes of death in our country, namely heart disease and stroke, which claims almost 10,000 lives every year," said Breffni Gorman, regional fundraising manager with the foundation. "The good news is that 80 per cent of cardiovascular disease incidence is preventable, and being active is important for a healthy heart. Events like the Big Heart Fight Night promote physical activity, and we are delighted that the people of Galway have thrown their weight behind the Irish Heart Foundation once again. We are really looking forward to what is going to be a brilliant night of entertainment.”
The boxers on the night all hail from around Galway so there are going to be plenty of familiar faces in the ring battling it out for this great cause. Many of Galway's business men and women are trading their suits for boxing gloves and showcasing their newly found skills on the night.
Tickets are €20, available from any of the competing boxers, limited tickets are still available.
