An evening of Japanese and Irish poetry

THE ANNUAL evening of Japanese and Irish poetry will take place in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop this Saturday, with Japanese tanka poet Hisa Kagawa, and Galway poets Annie and Ted Deppe.

Tanka is a Japanese poetic form, also known as waka or uta, similar to a haiku but with two additional lines. Hisa Kagawa is one its most established practicioners. She is a regular judge for tanka awards in Japan and has published many collections of tanka.

The event starts at 6pm. Refreshments will be provided by the Wa Cafe. All are welcome.
