THE CÚIRT International Festival of Literature will grow from a six to an eight day event this year, testament to its increasing success over recent years, and John Banville, one of Ireland's leading novelists, will be among the writers taking part.
Cúirt will run from April 17 to 24, and the extension allows for an increase in the number of projects, events, readings and happenings during the course of Cúirt. Alongside Banville, other writers scheduled to appear are new Irish success story Donal Ryan and Galway writer Mike McCormack.
"The Cúirt programme is substantial," said festival producer Páraic Breathnach, "with events ranging from kitchen readings, to youth events, to Town Hall main stage readings and interviews. This year we are extending the festival in recognition of the number of events the festival is running - over 80 in just six days last year. We look forward to opening Sunday April 17 at Hotel Meyrick, and we have a great week planned."
