Galway women seek to maintain lead when Cork visit

Galway Women’s FC are back in Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday (7.30pm ) looking to continue their push for honours in this season's Continental Women’s National League.

Cork City WFC are the visitors, and Galway manager Don O’Riordan is seeking a fifth win from six to keep his side top of the table.

Galway, undefeated in Eamonn Deacy Park this season, are looking for the crowd to get behind them on Saturday as this will be their last game before the international break with the Irish senior women traveling to take part in the Cyprus Cup.

O’Riordan says Galway will have to be on their best form to win this game and maintain their recent run of results.

“We will be taking nothing for granted and hope we have a great crowd to back us like the previous home game when the fans inspired the players to a great victory.

"Cork City WFC have made huge strides from last season by making a lot of changes to their squad and they have changed their style of play this campaign. We will have to be on our best form to win this game and hopefully we can maintain our recent run of results.

"We would like to invite football people from all over the county to come and see the Galway Women's team play because they are a credit to the women's game in this part of Ireland.”

A free football fanzine will be held at Eamonn Deacy Park before the game, kicking off at 6.30pm. Games include an inflatable shooting target, “Quick Feet”, a Batak board, small sided games. and a speed radar. All are welcome to try out their skills during the pre-match build-up.
