Galway solicitors came together to raise €2,500 for Gorta Self Help Africa at a CPD event in the city courthouse on Friday January 29. Gorta-Self Help Africa is a leading international development charity with an expertise in small-scale farming and growing family-farm businesses.
The CPD event was organised by the Galway Bar Association and delivered by Will Mallard of Keyhouse Professional Services. Ronan Scully from Gorta Self Help Africa spoke about the enormous struggles the people of rural Africa are enduring as famine and disease continue to grip. In a stirring address Mr. Scully detailed the work going on and the challenges Self Help Africa was encountering in the region. He outlined the enormous efforts of volunteers and the change that was being implemented in the areas of farming, education, and basic healthcare
Those in attendance responded generously and the money raised will go to much needed support of the organisation’s goal of tackling poverty and improving the lives of local communities.
