Richard Hawley to play Black Box in February

RICHARD HAWLEY, one of Britain's finest contemporary songwriters, plays the Black Box Theatre on Friday February 26 at 8pm, as part of his British and Irish tour, supporting his latest album Hollow Meadows.

Hollow Meadows sees the Sheffield singer-songwriter return to a classic songwriting style, and brooding, romantic, atmosphere of albums such as Cole's Corner, in contrast to the expansive, psychedelic rock of the 2012's Top 3 album, Standing At The Sky’s Edge.

Lyrically, Hollow Meadows explores ageing, fallibility, relationships, and of course his beloved Sheffield. Hollow Meadows is the location of a hospital that existed up to the 1950s. The songwriter also discoved, during the making of the album, that the area was originally known as Auley Meadows – a name thought to derive from the Hawley family who lived there from the 14th to the 17th centuries.

This is a 'Róisín Dubh presents...' show. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
