Skerries next up for Corinthians

Corinthians suffered another defeat on Saturday at home to Cashel RFC, losing by 19-0.

It has been a tough season for the Cloonacauneen players who, with just three wins from 12 outings, continue to play with pride in the Ulster Bank League division 2A.

Captain Colin Raftery rallied his troops once again last Saturday, while coach Eneliko Fa'atau has been forced to don his boots again due to continued injuries over the course of the season.

But it did not get any better last weekend when the visitors, with the assistance of the elements, took a 14-0 lead into the break. They had opened within seven minutes when lively scrum half Aidan Barron snuck in for an excellent touchdown under the posts from a forward drive, and centre Pat O'Connor added the extras.

Corinthians did well to hold the visitors at bay, but a turnover in the line-out resulted in a second try when left winger Ryan O'Donnell scooted in, and O'Connor added the extras.

The second half was a dogged affair as the conditions deteriorated. The Cloonacauneen outfit endeavored to up their game, but were caught on the hop when Cashel's number eight Ed Leamy secured possession outside Corinthian 22 and ran in for their third try. With their tails up, the visitors bagged a fourth try, but Corinthians maintained their defensive focus to prevent further leakage.

Corinthians now face atrip to Skerries with a mounting injury list.
