Greg Dulli begins European tour in Galway

Afghan Whigs and Twilight Singers mainman returns to the Róisín Dubh

WHETHER WITH The Afghan Whigs, The Twilight Singers, The Gutter Twins with Mark Lanagan, or solo, Greg Dulli has earned a position of admiration as a first rate songwriter.

It is a view that will be reinforced on his latest tour, 'An Evening With Greg Dulli', which starts in the Róisín Dubh on Saturday February 6 at 8pm, where Dulli and his band will perform stripped down versions of songs from across his career.

Dulli’s version of David Bowie's 'Modern Love' is now available as a free download from www.gregdulli.com "I tried to record this song with the Whigs a while back and we just couldn’t get it the way I wanted it,” Dulli remarked. “With his passing, I was reminded of it and decided to finish it myself. The world is filled with love for David Bowie right now. It feels good. I feel inspired by his life."

Dulli began his career as frontman/guitarist for The Afghan Whigs in 1987, with whom he released six album. He went on to form The Twilight Singers, with whom he made the acclaimed albums Blackberry Belle (2003 ), Powder Burns (2006 ), and Dynamite Steps (2011 ). In between he collaborated with Mark Lanegan as The Gutter Twins. In 2012, The Afghan Whigs reunited for a massively successful tour, before releasing the album Do To The Beast (2014 ). The Whigs are currently working on a new album for Sub Pop, to be released this year.

Support is from Manuel Agnelli, lead singer with Italian rock band Afterhours. Tickets are on sale from www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
