Multiple Sclerosis Ireland’s Western Regional Office have joined up with the Kingfisher group for the second year to find Galway’s Fittest Workplace.
Teams of four will be professionally trained twice a week— in the Kingfisher in Renmore or NUIG for four weeks from late January to end of February. Teams will be given a choice of an early morning or evening slot on various days. Teams will then be tested in competition against all others in the live Final. There will be prizes for the winners etc. The live final will be held on February 27 in the NUIG Sports Complex. Along with the fitness training, it will be a bit of craic.
Each team will be asked to raise much needed funds for MS Ireland’s Western Regional Office in Galway City. Some teams are having a “Work Table Quiz” to raise the funds, others are deciding that each member will fundraise individually. It is entirely up to each team how they wish to raise the funds. If workplaces enter more than one team then we can agree an achievable target. Nothing too demanding.
“We are getting a very good response to this event. All types of workplaces have already signed up, from small businesses to large factories, employees in the public sector as well as the private. It certainly is going to be competitive,” said Mike Crowe, Fundraising Manager with MS Ireland.
“This year, the Kingfisher have kindly offered all participants the full use of their facilities for the duration of the training. So participants can go for a swim, use their gym or go to classes etc. I would sincerely like to thank the Kingfisher Group for this. Allied to this Fitness 35, which is a new modern fitness centre in Briarhill Shopping Centre have also offered their facilities.”
All monies go to Multiple Sclerosis Ireland’s Western Regional services which are based in Roscam in Galway City. Within Galway city and county, Multiple Sclerosis Ireland have contact with over 350 people with Multiple Sclerosis and their family members.
