Broadcaster and TV presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin will be the guest MC at a new dance exercise event, “Morning Galwayville” being organised by NUI Galway’s Sober Society on Wednesday, January 27 from 6.30-10am in The Cube, Áras na Mac Léinn on campus.
There is a global awareness of the mental and physical health benefits in early morning dancing with events held all over the world where people get up early and dance before work.
Martin Sharkey, NUI Galway student and member of the University’s Sober Society, said: “Dancing is a way to exercise, connect to your deepest self, to feel free, to let go of pent up energy and one of the best ways to start a day.
“We are organising this morning session for those of you who would like to ‘dance your way into the day’ full of health and vitality. It is obviously a sober event and there will be yoga, massage, healthy snacks and drinks and all kinds of wonderful things there.”
A Yoga session with Paul Hardiman will also run from 7–8:30am.
There will be a cover charge of €3 for students and €10 for members of the public and music will be provided by DJ Softly, a renowned Irish, world music DJ based in Galway. The snacks will be provided by The Secret Garden Café.
