The Henry Girls @ Monroe’s Live

THE HENRY Girls, who have won renown for what Songlines magazine calls their "graceful harmonies, charming vocals, and elegant musicianship", return to Monroe's Live on Wednesday January 20 at 8pm.

The band are Donegal sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin, who fuse Irish folk and trad with Americana, Bluegrass, and blues, as heard on their albums Louder Than Words (2014 ), which 'Whispering' Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 declared "absolutely gorgeous"; and December Moon (2011 ), described as a "full bodied and powerfully dynamic collection...High buoyant vocal harmonies and ebullient instrumental attack make for stellar moments aplenty" by fRoots magazine. The trio have played across Europe and one of the main stages at Glastonbury.

Support is from folk country band The Blackberries, made up of Yvonne Tiernan, Ailish Flaherty, Paul McDonagh, Ben Murray, with guest fiddler Mairin Fahy and her sister, percussionist Yvonne Fahy.

Tickets are €15/€12.50. See www.monroes.ie
