St Mary’s College celebrates Christmas with college feast day and charity drive

As part of the annual St Mary’s College Christmas charity drive all students enjoyed a full Christmas dinner on Friday December 18. Chef Radek Lewandski and Mariola, and their helpers, prepared a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Feeding more than 400 hungry boys is no small feat, but with the teachers and staff serving the meals every student was able to enjoy the feast in a tradition that is unique to St Mary’s College.

The charity drive culminated yesterday, December 22, when St Mary’s pupils, teachers, and staff were out and about in the community collecting donations. In the last number of years, the boys have collected €225,000 for charities in Galway, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and citizens. This year, St Mary’s has chosen Galway Hospice, and Renal Support Centre House, Beaumont, Dublin, as the main charity beneficiaries.

St Mary’s would like to thank everyone who has supported their efforts over the years and ask that they continue to do so now and into the future.
