In response to a recent story that circulated in the news that featured a husky by the name of Macari, who was the subject of horrific animal abuse when his eyes were shot with pellet guns, Carbon nightclub Galway have raised over €1,000 from their recent ‘Zoology’ fundraiser in aid of the Galway Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA ).
Macari, now permanently blind as a result of the attack, has been under the care of the GSPCA ever since the incident took place, along with many other animals who have been left without a home or anyone to care for them.
Rory Collins, the owner of Carbon Nightclub was horrified to see what had happened and wanted to support the GSPCA in their attempts at looking after him.
“When I read the news article about what had occurred I knew we had to do something. We have always been committed to fundraising and helping the community in any way we can and this was no exception. We’d like to thank everyone who came along to the event and helped us raise these vital funds.”
Rory went on to say that the staff of Carbon Nightclub have also committed to further helping the GSPCA by offering their time in volunteering at the centre, “The staff have all got behind the idea and we plan on spending time volunteering over the Christmas period”.
