Kenny's celebrate a milestone with a major exhibition

THE KENNY Gallery and Bookshop has reached its 75th year in business and to mark this platinum milestone, it hosts an exhibition, celebrating through 75 different objects, the fascinating history of this family-owned Galway institution.

The exhibition, curated by Dean Kelly, will display artworks, photographs, and books relating to writers such as Seamus Heaney, John McGahern, Edna O’Brien and Colm Toibín, all of whom have passed through Kenny's doors; and feature works by artists who have exhibited in Kenny's, including Seán Keating, Gertrude Degenhardt, George Campbell, John Behan, and Kenneth Webb. There will also documentation of the visits to Kenny's of Jung Chang, Allen Ginsberg, Roald Dahl, and Nadine Gordimer.

Kennys was founded in 1940 and since that time has been synonymous with promoting and supporting Irish culture, literature, and the arts.

The exhibition is open Mondays to Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm, and runs through to the New Year. Admission is free and all are welcome.
