Wyvern Lingo to play Róisín Dubh

WYVERN LINGO "possess colossal voices, echoing everyone’s favourite chart-topping wonder woman Florence Welch." So said Hotpress, which went on to compare the Wicklow trio to indie rockers Local Natives.

Indeed the band - Karen Cowley (vocals, keyboards ), Caoimhe Barry (vocals, drums ), Saoirse Duane (vocals, guitar ) - are no strangers to critical acclaim, with The Last Mixed Tape declaring, their "deeply structured vocal harmonies and palpable blend of organic folk sounds and pop-sensibilities has identified the three-piece as a band on the ascendancy.” The Irish Times praised their “lush harmonies and striking melodic pop”.

As well as their impeccable vocal harmonies, the band's music is often imaginative and ambitious, drawing on, and effortlessly mixing prog-rock, bluegrass, folk, country, singer-songwriter, and R'n'B. This was heard to impressive effect on their 2014 debut EP, The Widow Knows. Last month, the band released the single 'Subside'. Next year they will support their friend Hozier on his British tour.

Wyvern Lingo play the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 9pm. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
