THE CÚIRT New Writing Prize 2016 is now open for submissions in poetry and fiction, a cash prize of €500 and a chance to read at next year's Cúirt/Over the Edge Showcase are up for grabs.
The youth strand of the prize, Young Cúirt, is for ages 12 to 17. The winner will receive €100 cash prize and will read at the Cúirt Labs in April.
The guidelines for both adult and youth submissions are: poetry entries of three poems under 50 lines each, while fiction pieces are restricted to cup to 2,000 words. Entries in English or as Geilge are welcome. Entrants must not have had a collection published in the category in which they enter. Entry fee for each submission is €10, payable via Paypal through www.cuirt.ie When emailing submissions, include the unique transaction ID and the account owner's name.
The closing date for submissions is Thursday January 28 at 5pm. Entries should be emailed to [email protected]. This year’s judges are poet Elaine Feeney and The Stinging Fly’s Declan Meade.
