THE BRILLIANT Abie Philbin Bowman, whose comedy goes "way beyond superficial satire" to be "absorbing, challenging and highly entertaining", by Time Out, plays the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh.
Abie will headline the Clubh tomorrow at 8.30pm. His previous shows include Jesus, the Guantanamo Years and Eco-Friendly Jihad, and he has toured his dark, subversive, brand of comedy as far afield as Los Angeles, London and Pakistan. Abie has been boycotted by the DUP, interviewed the KKK, and even got the IMF delegation in Ireland to laugh at themselves. He is a regular on TV and Radio, including RTE Radio 1, Callan Kicks The Year, and Irish Pictorial Weekly. LA Weekly has praised his "rapid-fire delivery, wit, and taste for paradox".
Support is from Sean Nolan, the winner of RTÉ’s New Comedy Awards. The Bray native has been described as having "creativity to burn...might just herald greatness...this young Irishman sure knows how to write a gag” by leading British comedy site chortle.co.uk
The MC is Steve Bennett. Tickets are €8 from OMG Shop Street, the Róisín Dub, and www.roisindubh.net
