ANNIE, ONE of the best known and loved musicals in the world, receivse an Irish language performance in An Taibhdhearc Theatre, Middle Street, from Saturday December 12 to Sunday 20.
The show, which will be accessible to those with very little Gaeilge, features Shíofra Ní Scanláin and Anna Ní Artaigh in the title role, with Ciara Cox, Jennifer Ní Chonghaile, Caoimhe Ní Mháille, Aedín Ní Mháille, Éabha Breathnach, and Aoibheann Ní Eochaidh as the orphans.
The cast also includes Morgan Cooke, Linda Bhreathnach, Fionnuala Gygax, Eoghan Ó Loideáin, Niamh Ní Fhlatharta, and Maidhc P Ó Conaola. There will be the songs 'Tomorrow' ('Amárach' ), 'Maybe' ('B’fhéidir' ) and 'It’s a Hard Knock Life' ('Tá An Saol Crua Anseo' ). The director is Beartla M Ó Flatharta, who has worked on Ros na Rún, Na Cloigne, and Scéal for TG4. It was last staged in An Taibhdhearc in 1981 in a translation by the late Máire Stafford.
