An Triail returns to Black Box

AN TRIAIL, the Irish language classic set in 1961, about a young, unmarried, Irishwoman who discovers she is pregnant, returns to the Black Box Theatre next week.

Written by Máiréad Ní Ghráda, and staged by Aisling Ghéar theatre company, it examines Ireland at a time when the State, the people, and the cultural ethos did not take kindly to single mothers. Máire is sent to work in the infamous Magdalen laundries until her child was born. After the birth, Máire has to quickly get to grips with a life that is devoid of support from her family, the father of her child, and society. In despair and driven by distress she makes some catastrophic choices.

An Triail is on Monday November 16 at 2pm and Tuesday 17 at 11am and 2pm.
