Green fingered Galwegians and those who are interested in making the most out of their garden, and are seeking gardening advice, information, and skills, should check out a series of classes being run by Michael Gill Landscaping.

The Know Your Own Garden classes take place in The Ardilaun hotel, Taylor's Hill, on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm, starting next week and running until April.

The first class takes place on November 14 and looks at preparing the garden for winter. Participants will learn about pruning and planting, and winter colour and bulb planting.

The next class takes place on December 5. Entitled Getting Ready for Christmas Time, Mr Gill will teach how to make beautiful table arrangements that can be used at home or as a gift idea.

The New Year begins with the class looking at herbs, fruit, and vegetables on January 9, focussing on going from the garden to the plate.

The February 6 class will offer all year round advice on tending the garden, particularly in relation to lawn and plant care. The attention turns towards summer in the March 5 class with advice on summer planting, window boxes, and hanging baskets. The April 6 class will offer advice and tips on indoor plants.

Bookings are being taken now through Roisin on 089 - 4153303. Early booking is advised as places are limited. The cost is €60 per class or €300 for six classes. There is also a free gift per class. Mr Gill is also available help design a patio, pond, rocker, and/or decking for your garden.
