THE JUNIOR Galway Film Fleadh, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, will hold workshops, including classes in animation, to inspire, educate, and entertain young Galwegians who love film.
Classes take place on Saturday November 14 in the Town Hall Theatre; are suitable for ages 12 and over; and are open to schools, groups, and individuals.
Animation 101 with the Oscar nominated Cartoon Saloon, focusses on character design and interactive animation (12 noon – 1.30pm ); Filmmaking 101 with Galway's the Little Cinema (11am – 1pm ) offering tips and advice on what makes a great short film; Special FX Make-Up for the Movies (1pm – 3pm ) will show participants how to create vampires, zombies, ghouls, and ghosts; use blood, scars, monster make-up; and show how practical make-up effects are an integral part of film and TV.
Block by Block – Pixel Art 101 (2.30pm - 4pm ) focuses on creating characters in this style using free pixel art tools. Participants must bring their own laptop (PC is preferable for the software ). TV Show and Screenwriting 101 (2pm – 3.30pm ) with Shane Perez will give budding writers an overview of how to develop an idea into a viable and entertaining script. Participants will need to submit a 500 word idea ahead of the workshop.
