While men across the world take part in Movember, Galway is about to run its own, very specific take on the moustache growing charity, in an effort to raise money for local cancer charity Cancer Care West.
FanTashtic will see staff in a number of bars in Galway city, grow a moustache or beard for the month. Staff are also hoping that customers will also take part and Galway’s men are being encouraged to let the facial hair grow for November.
The participating bars so so far include the Róisín Dubh, Monroe’s, The Front Door, The Dáil Bar, Blakes, Seven, An Pucan, The Sliding Rock, The Cellar, The Blue Note, Bierhaus, Busker Brown’s, The King’s Head, and Tom Sheridans. There will be prizes for the bar and the individual who raise the most money.
Cancer Care West supports people with cancer diagnosis by providing support to them and their families. Its 33 bedroom residential lodge Inis Aoibhinn is at Galway University Hospital and provides accommodation to patients undergoing radiotherapy at the hospital. All services are provided at no cost to the patient or family member.
