Accordionist Dermot Byrne to play Monroe's

Maestro to be joined by Steve Cooney and Lunasa's Trevor Hutchinson

DERMOT BYRNE, one of Ireland’s finest trad accordion players, will be joined by Australian Steve Cooney on guitar and Tyrone's Trevor Hutchinson on bass, for a night of Irish trad at Monroe’s Backstage Bar on Friday October 30.

The show marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the former Altan man's eponymous, and much acclaimed, solo album. Throughout his career he has worked with Donal Lunny, Stephane Grapelli, Frankie Gavin, Sharon Shannon, and The Stunning, and in 2013 became TG4's Traditional Musician of the Year.

Steve Cooney is one of the most dynamic modern performers in traditional music. He has played with Stockton's Wing, Sharon Shannon, Seamus Begley and Sinead O'Connor, and besides the guitar he also plays bass and didgeridoo. Trevor Hutchinson's CV includes being a member of The Waterboys from 1986 to 1991, being a member of Sharon Shannon's band, and being a co-founder of the revered Lunasa.
