As part of the International Brain Tumour Awareness Week 2015 an informal open evening in Cancer Care West will be held next Wednesday (28 Oct ) between 7.30 – 9.00 pm.
A Brain Tumour Diagnosis is the start of a journey no one expects to take. It can be overwhelming trying to process the diagnosis, surgery and/or ongoing treatments and certainly it is a challenging journey for patients and their families.
The Irish Brain Tumour Support Group was formed in Galway and the Western Region in November 2006 and is available to provide information and support to those embarking on this journey.
They have regular support group meetings in Galway on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the Cancer Care West Centre, Seamus Quirk Rd, Galway.
Our group meetings enable those diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and those affected by the diagnosis to share experiences. They provide professional and peer support for day to day living following a brain tumour diagnosis, enabling patients and their families to share fears or anxieties regarding diagnosis, medication or treatment and changes in family roles or financial concerns etc.
They also provide ongoing support and outreach through phone contact and home or hospital visits as required throughout Galway and all Counties in the Western Region.
