The organising committee of the 19th Annual Galway People of the year Awards have extended the closing date for receipt of nominations for this very high profile and prestigious event which honours and recognises the high achievers in our city and county to Tuesday next October 26.
Over the years the awards have captured the imagination of the Galway public who have nominated people from every nook and cranny in the county and even abroad. The dedication, commitment, and achievements of all those nominated are a shining example for all to follow and the contribution either social, economic, educational, sporting, or cultural of the people who drive Galway’s communities have been recognised by those Awards
The committee is once again inviting the people of Galway, as well as the business community, the corporate sector, family, friends, supporters and members of clubs, groups and organisations to nominate the person or people they would like to salute and honour and consider most deserving of a Galway People of the Year Award.
The Awards give public recognition to people who through their personal leadership, participation, courage or achievement have made an outstanding contribution to the community, or the betterment of the lives of people in their own areas in the city or county or even abroad.
This year they are seeking nominations for Galway people who have contributed to their communities at local national or international level, those who had excelled as leaders or made significant contributions in other areas for example sport, charity work, employment, education, entertainment, tourism, media, broadcasting, medicine, research, community involvement etc.
In addition to individuals, groups, clubs or organisations etc can also be nominated.
The winners will be presented with their Awards at a glittering (black tie ) Gala Banquet and presentation in the Galway Bay Hotel on Saturday December 19, compered by Keith Finnegan of Galway Bay FM
