The Irish Times' Kitty Holland to read in Galway

THE IRISH Times award winning social affairs correspondent Kitty Holland will read at the next Over The Edge: Open Reading in the Galway City Library on Thursday October 29 at 6.30pm.

Kitty Holland has reported widely on such issues as homelessness, drug addiction; poverty, and rights. In 2012 she broke the story on the death of Savita Halappanavar and won Journalist of the Year in 2013. She is the author of Savita: The Tragedy That Shook A Nation.

Harry Patterson is a writer and socialist activist from Nottinghamshire. He is the author of Look Back In Anger: The Miners’ Strike in Nottinghamshire 30 Years On (Five Leaves Press, 2014 ). Mike Gibbons is the author of Survivor, about how he was involved in a helicopter crashed on the northern slopes of Slieve Aughty. The injuries to his head, limbs and body were horrific, and he will never completely recover, but he did survive.

The winners of the Over The Edge New Writer of The Year competition will be announced. There will be an open-mic after the featured readers. New readers are welcome. The MC will be Susan Millar DuMars. Admission is free.
